Storing and Framing Your Movie Poster Collection

Proper storage and display are crucial to preserving the value and condition of vintage posters. We cover archival materials, framing options and climate considerations.

Archival Storage

Unframed posters should be stored flat or rolled, never folded. Use acid-free interleaving tissue between posters stored flat, and always keep them in a cool, dry environment away from direct light.

Framing

For display, conservation framing is essential. This means UV-filtering glazing, acid-free mounting board, and a mount that keeps the poster from touching the glazing surface. Never dry-mount or wet-mount an original poster — this is irreversible and destroys value.
